Hey, I'm

Digital strategist

Melanie stumbled into digital when you could still apply for a job at Yahoo! as a website crawler to assist the spiders – yes, that was a thing, and no, she didn’t get the job! Doing marketing in the tech sector in the late 90s in San Francisco put Melanie in good stead to work on website projects when she moved to London in the early noughties. She got involved in her first ecommerce website at Calendar Club in 2003 – and has never looked back.

The digital career has been underpinned with retail experience from the shop floor to head office, as well as informal mentoring and career development of many of the young talents she worked with.

Melanie works with retailers, brands and service providers to help them understand who their customers are, and deliver the best digital experience possible. Melanie works with business leaders to help them assess skills gaps, revisit business processes and re-evaluate KPIs that may be hindering digital growth.

Over the years Melanie has worked with household names such as Lakeland, Encyclopaedia Britannica and The Book People to more niche players including Tatty Devine, The Fibre Co., Landlord Action, Inov-8 and Planks Clothing to name a few. Melanie’s pragmatic and practical approach to business means she can easily slot in to work alongside teams in a wide variety of business verticals.

In her spare time ...

Melanie can often be found knitting or crocheting while listening to an audiobook or bingeing a box set. Pre-pandemic – she really enjoyed travelling and misses the ironed sheets you get in hotels. During pandemic, she launched a podcast and explores the joys – and pains of modern midlife.
